Latrobe City Business Chamber People’s Choice Awards – Terms and Conditions

1. Overview

The Latrobe City Business Chamber (“LCBC”) is the governing body responsible for the administration and oversight of the People’s Choice Awards (the “Awards”). The Awards aim to recognise and celebrate outstanding businesses, services, organisations and clubs (“Nominees”) within a community-based voting system by members of the public.

2. Eligibility

  • Nominees: Any business, service, club or group that has been publicly nominated is eligible to participate in the Awards. Nominees must adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth in these terms.
  • Voters: Voting is open to the public, and each voter must submit their vote through the online voting system.

3. Voting Rules

  • Voting is open from 12:00pm on 7 August 2025 and will close at 11:59pm on 21 September 2025. Votes submitted outside of this period will not be counted.
  • One Person, One Vote: Each individual (“Voter”) is entitled to submit one vote per category, but can vote across multiple categories in a single submission.
  • You may vote in any and all categories at one time.  Multiple categories may be selected during your vote.  Only one business or service may be selected in the category you vote in.
  • Unique Identifier: Voters are identified by their email address, and only one submission per unique email address will be accepted. Multiple submissions from the same email will be disqualified.
  • Free Voting: Voting is free, and no payment is required to participate.

4. Nominee Conduct

  • No Compensation or Incentives: Nominees are strictly prohibited from offering any form of compensation, incentive, or giveaway in exchange for votes. This includes but is not limited to monetary rewards, discounts, or any benefits related to the nominee’s business or service.
  • Promotion Guidelines: Nominees are encouraged to promote the Awards and public voting through organic marketing channels (e.g., social media, newsletters). However, paid advertising specifically to solicit votes is prohibited.   Paid refers to an exchange of monies or an in-kind service.
  • No Use of AI or Automated Systems: The use of artificial intelligence (AI), bots, or any automated systems to generate votes is strictly prohibited. All votes must be cast by individual, genuine voters using their own verified email address.  All votes deemed to be automatically generated or not a genuine submission, will be removed from the overall collation before finalists are tallied.  Any nominee found to be using automated systems or third-party services to artificially inflate vote counts may be disqualified.

5. Dispute Resolution

The Latrobe City Business Chamber reserves the right to investigate and address any disputes or violations of these terms. The LCBC’s decisions on all matters relating to the Awards, including but not limited to disqualifications, disputes, or rule interpretations, are final and binding.

6. Disqualification

Any nominee found in breach of these terms, particularly with regard to offering compensation for votes or using paid advertising for vote solicitation, may be disqualified from the Awards at the sole discretion of the Latrobe City Business Chamber.
